About us
Our mission is simple: make today better and tomorrow brighter for our communities.
We're Point North, but you might know us as County Durham Community Foundation - we rebranded in 2024, and you can find out more about why on our website.
We’re a charity and a grantmaking organisation.
In simple terms, this means we raise funds through our donors – people and businesses who want to make a difference; people like you! And then we distribute those funds as grants to community groups in County Durham, Tees Valley and the wider North East.
Your donation makes a difference
We rely on donations from supporters, people and businesses who care about our region and the people who call it home.
Our donors are united by their belief that our communities deserve better. They believe our young people deserve the brightest future. They want to see a sustainable, vibrant, healthy, and prosperous county that benefits everyone.
For us, this starts with eliminating poverty. Too many people still choose between essentials, heating, and eating. But it doesn’t stop there. Our mission is to make today better and tomorrow brighter by enriching lives in any way possible.
But we cannot do this alone. We rely on the generosity and support of people like you, so thank you for being here and for making a difference.
